Audi Wireless Apple CarPlay Troubleshooting Guide
If you are experiencing connection issues with wireless Apple CarPlay on Audi MIB2+ and MIB3 infotainment systems, these technical steps will help resolve the problem.
How the System Works
Wireless CarPlay utilizes the vehicle's 5GHz Wi-Fi band for high-speed video and audio streaming. Bluetooth is only used for the initial "handshake" to notify the car that the phone is present. Once connected, the data transfer continues over the private Wi-Fi channel.
Common Issues & Solutions
1. External Wi-Fi Conflicts: If your iPhone is still connected to your home or office Wi-Fi, it may fail to join the vehicle's private CarPlay channel. Ensure your phone is not tethered to an outside network.
2. Manual Wi-Fi Band Conflict: Audi systems broadcast on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Do not manually pair to the 2.4GHz band (AUDI_XXXX). CarPlay requires 5GHz. If unstable, toggle the "CarPlay" switch in your iPhone's Bluetooth settings off and back on.
3. Expired Audi Connect Plans: If you manually joined the Wi-Fi SSID and your data plan expired, the iPhone may disconnect due to lack of internet.
Solution: Delete all pairings and re-pair via Bluetooth only. The system will automatically handle the Wi-Fi credentials in the background.

4. iOS Security Lockout: Starting with iOS 12, Apple locks out wireless accessories if the phone hasn't been unlocked for over an hour. Simply unlock your iPhone to restore the connection.
Critical Checklist
- Siri must be enabled in your iPhone settings.
- Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi must be toggled "On" (But do not manually join the Wi-Fi network).
- If issues persist, performing a "Reset Network Settings" on your iPhone is the most effective solution.
